According to Interpipe, the company recently mastered the production of a non-standard axle specifically for the TF25 bogie of British-designed trains that carry heavy loads. The company began manufacturing railway axles in 2017 and has been steadily expanding its product portfolio in this segment.
The distinctive feature of the new TF25 axle is its increased diameter of 225 mm, which is almost a quarter thicker than the standard axle for freight cars. This design can withstand heavier loads of up to 25.4 tons and speeds of up to 120 km/h. The first orders have already been shipped to customers in Europe.
“The original British TF25 bogie has improved noise reduction specs and reduces the load on railway tracks thanks to increased axle load. We have already delivered the first two batches of 80 units each to France and Germany, where TF25 bogies are also widely used,” said Frédéric Simonneau, Interpipe’s Railway Products Sales Manager for the European market.
