According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the company has built a grain carrier at its own facilities that is adapted for the transportation of goods on 1520 mm and 1435 mm gauges. The components and materials used in the production were mostly Ukrainian-made.
The new 19-8005-U grain hopper is designed to transport grain and other bulk foodstuffs. Its carrying capacity is 70 t; the wagon has a body volume of 104 cu m, five loading hatches and six unloading hatches. The grain carrier can be operated at a speed of up to 120 km/h.
“In order to increase exports, we need to not only build border infrastructure but also upgrade the quantity and quality of rolling stock. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a grain carrier was manufactured at the production facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia, which is maximally adapted for the transportation of goods through the territory of Ukraine and the EU. It takes into account all the requirements, features and dimensions of the infrastructure,” said Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.
It should be also added that Ukrzaliznytsia is planning to introduce such wagons to to mass production.
