Rental rates for gondola cars dropped sharply in September 2024. According to market participants, one of the main reasons for a decrease is Russian troops attacking Pokrovsk – owners and operators of rolling stock are removing the empty wagons which were previously carrying clay from the local stations of Merzalove and Druzhkivka

The rental rates of freight wagons held generally steady in the Baltic countries in August. The only exception is the range of rental rates of box cars with a body capacity of 161-175 cu m and fitting platforms, as rates were affected by currency fluctuations in those segments.

There is a downtrend on the rental market of gondola cars primarily due to decreased offer of cargoes. Some operators forecast the rates to fall to ₴333-375/day in September (VAT excluding).
