Ukrzaliznytsia has agreed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide an additional €300 million for the purchase of electric freight locomotives. The relevant memorandum between Ukrzaliznytsia, the EBRD, and the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure was signed in Berlin during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2024).
LTG Cargo Ukraine organized transportation of 20 hopper wagons from Ukraine to Lithuania. The fleet belonging to Lithuanian customers was scattered throughout Ukraine, which made the project particularly challenging. However, the company managed to assemble this rolling stock at Volodymyr station for further transportation abroad.
As expected, rental rates for gondola cars are going down gradually in June. This is due to constant shelling of the infrastructure and shortage of electricity; in such circumstances, large metallurgical companies and mining enterprises are unable to load their products.
AS Operail, the Estonian state-owned rail freight operator, has been put up for sale. On June 6, the Estonian Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal of the Ministry of Climate to privatize the company through a public auction.
On June 17, the Moldovan Railways SE “Calea Ferată din Moldova” will hold an auction for the sale of 32 old wagons. The buyer will pick up the fleet from its location at Chisinau and Balti Slobodziei stations.

Ukrainian wagon building enterprises delivered as many as 227 freight wagons to their customers in April 2024, including 133 hoppers, 51 flat cars, 31 tank cars and 12 bunker-type wagons.

Kremenchuk Steel Works produced almost 1,000 t of large railway steel castings in April 2024. The total output of such products averaged some 3,800 t in the period from January 1 to April 30, 2024.
