            The small-tonnage markets of the Black and Mediterranean Seas have seen a slight increase in the overall cargo flow, primarily thanks to a further gradual upturn in grain shipments from Ukrainian ports, as well as fertilizers from North African, Georgian and Russian ports.

            In general, ship owners have not managed to raise rates in the Black and Mediterranean Seas yet despite the gradual increase in grain offer for shipments from Ukraine. The list of main problems still includes weak support from other traditionally important cargo flows (European grain, North African fertilizers, Turkish and Russian steel products)

            This week has finally brought at least some positive features to the small-tonnage shipping market. In a different situation, market participants would hardly pay serious attention to these improvements (5-7 fresh requests – even in one direction – are usually not supernatural for the peak of the grain season).
