Iron ore exports from Ukraine by railways

            A total of 3 million t of Ukrainian iron ore were carried by railways in November (up 17% compared with October). Export iron ore traffic increased by 19% month-on-month to 2.3 million t in November, while domestic deliveries rose by 10% month-on-month to 700,000 t.

            Exports increased in almost all iron ore segments. In particular, Ukraine stepped up railway transportation of iron ore concentrate by 46% month-on-month to 1.4 million t and agglomerates by 9% month-on-month to 300,000 t. However, exports of pellets dropped by 15% month-on-month to 500,000 t.

            It should be noted that Ukraine resumed exports of manganese ore in November, with about 28,000 t of the product delivered to the ports of Greater Odesa. Suppliers are currently collecting a shipload lot of manganese ore, expecting up to 10,000 t to arrive at ports in December.

            Up to 1.1 million t of iron ore were delivered by rail to the ports of Greater Odesa in November, showing an impressive 93% splash compared with October. About 145,200 t of iron ore were carried by railways to the Danube ports (down 20% month-on-month). Rail transportation of iron ore through land border crossing points dropped by 12% month-on-month to 1 million t in November.

            A total of 2.4 million t of iron ore are projected to be carried abroad in December, with 1.5 million t to be transported by railways to sea ports, and 900,000 t to be exported through land border crossing points.
