New railroad operator Carpatica Feroviar created instead of CFR Marfa in Romania
Following the bankruptcy of the state-owned railway carrier CFR Marfa, the Romanian government announced the creation of a new state-owned railway freight company, Carpatica Feroviar. It will play a key role in commercial rail freight transportation and crisis logistics, especially amid the war in Ukraine.
Export deliveries of Ukrainian ferrous metals by railway in September 2024
The railway traffic of rolled steel products, semi-finished products, pipes, pig iron and scrap of ferrous metals decreased by 4% month-on-month to 900,000 t in Ukraine in September. Budamar Logistics modernizing its wagon fleet for grain transportation
Given increased demand for transportation of European and Ukrainian grain, Slovak logistics company Budamar Logistics plans to put into operation 60 new Tagnpps railcars designed for transportation of agricultural products by the end of the year. Tatravagonka Poprad (owned by the Budamar Group) is the manufacturer of the rolling stock.
Iron ore railway deliveries from Ukraine in September 2024
A total of 3.2 million t of iron ore were carried by railways in Ukraine in September, showing an increase of 1% compared with August. Iron ore exports rose by 2% month-on-month to 2.4 million t, while home deliveries sagged by 2% month-on-month to 900,000 t.
LTG Cargo Ukraine delivers first grain hoppers produced by KRCBW to Lithuania
LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of LTG Cargo (Lietuvos geleћinkeliai), has delivered the first batch of grain hoppers (20 units) manufactured by Kryukov Railway Car Building Works to Lithuania. These cars were sent from Ukraine in late August.

Similar to last month, rental rates for gondola cars are significantly affected by sever hostilities in the territory of Pokrov, which forces fleet owners and operators to withdraw empty wagons from this region. In addition, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is planning to shut down one of its furnaces in Q4.
