Gdynia Container Terminal: 2025 operation results

February 25, 2026

In 2025, Gdynia Container Terminal handled 465,000 TEU (258,936 containers arriving on 569 vessels), which is 19% more vs. the previous year. This was reported by GCT on its LinkedIn page with reference to GospodarkaMorska.pl.

Thanks to this, the port of Gdynia exceeded the 1 million TEU mark for the first time in history – according to the port, the total result reached 1.038 million TEU.

GCT accounts for almost 45% of the port’s container turnover, and its contribution to total cargo turnover has also increased. At the same time, the number of ship calls has declined, indicating an increase in average ship loading and operational efficiency.

The terminal’s key partners include Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express, ZIM, HMM, and Finnlines.

In 2026, the company’s management expects moderate organic growth, but does not predict exceeding the 500,000 TEU mark given the possible risks of global economic instability.

At the same time, last year was an important milestone in the implementation of the terminal’s climate strategy: GCT is gradually reducing carbon emissions and beginning to implement an equipment electrification program. In particular, it plans to purchase 24 electric tractors, two electric reach stackers, and two forklifts for handling empty containers, as well as to modernize seven gantry cranes by switching them to electric power. It also plans to install charging infrastructure and implement software for managing its equipment fleet. The possibility of concluding long-term agreements for the supply of electricity from renewable sources under the PPA model is being considered separately.

The terminal is also preparing to implement a shore power supply system for ships in accordance with the requirements of the EU AFIR regulation, which stipulates mandatory connection of the fleet to the TEN-T network by 2030. At the same time, the eXpress information system is being modernized and cybersecurity measures are being strengthened.
