As part of the Rail Baltica project, Lithuania has announced public procurement for the construction of a high-speed railroad superstructure. So far, 86,200 tons of crushed stone, 30,000 tons of reinforced concrete sleepers and 42 km of track have been delivered.
Railway deliveries of mineral fertilizers dropped by 14% to 244,000 t in February compared with January 2025. In particular, domestic supplies shrank by 20% month-on-month to 164,000 t, while transportation of imported mineral fertilizers rose by 9% to 80,000 t.

LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of LTG Cargo (Lietuvos geležinkeliai), has implemented a project to transport grain hoppers from Ukraine to Lithuania. The rolling stock manufactured by Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works was purchased by LTG Cargo to increase grain transportation volumes.
In January 2025, a total of 17.6 million t of cargo were transported by railway in Poland, which is a 100,000 t or 0.8% decline from January 2024 and a 500,000 t or 2.7% reduction from December 2024.
A significant excess of gondola cars on the market in March 2025 puts a strong pressure on the corresponding rental rates. However, some operators are still trying to hold rates at quite a high level averaging ₴291/day (hereafter VAT excluding).
IMC Agro-Industrial Company continues to invest in logistics, recently adding 150 new grain hoppers to its own railcar fleet. This brings the total number of railcars owned by IMC to 300. Investments in this project amounted to about $22 million in 2024-2025.
