The traffic of mineral fertilizers by railways has weakened somewhat in November compared with October , showing a 12% plunge to approximately 149,000 t. Domestic supplies dropped by 14% month-on-month to 102,000 t, while transportation of imported mineral fertilizers shrank by 13% month-on-month to 43,000 t.
The operators of the Riga Freeport all together handled almost 1.8 million t of cargo in November, a 250,000 t hike compared with October.
In November, the stevedoring companies of Liepaja SEZ handled a total of 549,000 t of various goods, falling behind the record October result by 22% month-on-month or overwhelming 157,000 t.
The handling volume dropped by approximately 78,000 t to 3.8 million t at the port of Klaipeda in November compared with October. This is mostly due to the weakened cargo turnover at the the Klaipeda State Seaport, which showed a 75,000 t plunge to 3.2 million t.
Railway deliveries of mineral fertilizers increased significantly in October compared with September, showing a 10% rise to approximately 170,000 t. Domestic supplies grew by 17% to 118,000 t, while transportation of imported mineral fertilizers shrank by 10% to 49,000 t.
The operators of the Riga Freeport all together handled a total of 1.5 million t of cargo in October 2024, falling behind the September turnover by 7% (or down 115,000 t).
The cargo turnover dropped to 3.9 million t at the port of Klaipeda in October, showing a 349,000 t decrease compared with September due to poorer performance both at the Klaipeda State Seaport (down 255,000 t to 3.3 million t) and the Butinge terminal (down 93,000 t to 594,000 t).
Liepaja SEZ announced that the October cargo turnover reached the highest result compared with any other month this year. Thus, port operators handled 706,000 t of cargo, up 42% or 209,000 t vs. September.
Railway deliveries of mineral fertilizers slumped by more than three times in September compared with August (down 33% month-on-month to 154,000 t). Domestic supplies dropped by 31% month-on-month to 100,000 t, while transportation of imported mineral fertilizers plunged by 36% month-on-month to 54,000 t.
