The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has simplified the conditions for exporting sunflower seeds to Bulgaria by introducing an automatic licensing regime instead of a non-automatic one. The relevant decision was made at a government meeting on February 2, 2024.
Last year, the Lithuanian company LTG Cargo (Lietuvos Geležinkeliai) transported a total of 27.2 million t of cargo (up 2.5 million t compared with the year before). The list of most actively carried cargoes includes oil and oil products (9.4 million t), construction cargoes (5.5 million t), and agricultural products (4.7 million t).
In 2023, the Moldovan port of Giurgiulesti handled 2.2 million t of cargo (up 18.64% year-on-year). Container handling performance reached a historic high of 8,646 TEU.

The Ventspils Freeport handled a total of 712,000 t of various goods in December 2023 compared with 107,000 t in November 2023.
Throughout 2024, a discount of 27% will be applied to the tariff for rail transportation of agricultural products in transit through Moldova. Such agreements were reached during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Moldovan Mixed Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation on September 29, 2023 in Odesa.
Weak demand for US soybeans and improved weather in South America put pressure on relevant export quotes.
Activity is picking up in the Australian grain market. Although producer sales are minimal, the export market continues to function. Activity at ports is increasing. January grain shipments are expected to total 3.83 million t, including 2.36 million t of wheat and 965,000 t of barley.
