On October 1, three more bulk carriers used the temporary corridor of the Ukrainian Navy. In particular, the Azara, Ying Hao 01 and Eneida vessels departed from the ports of Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi with 127,000 t of cargo (agricultural products and iron ore).
Approximately 12,100 wagons were waiting for unloading at Ukraine’s western land border crossing points on September 27, exceeding the number of wagons seen on August 30 by some 1,774 wagons. In particular, as many as 3,017 wagons were standing loaded with grain on September 27 (up 388 units compared with August 30)
Almost 954,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started September 1 and ended September 27 compared with 876,000 t during entire August.
About 3,100 wagons with grain were waiting for unloading at Ukrainian sea ports on September 28. Taking into account that approximately 258 wagons per day are accepted at the stations, it will take about 12 days to serve all the wagons currently standing in the railway network waiting for unloading at port terminals.
A total of 6.04 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were exported from Ukraine during the period started July 1 and ended September 22, 2023 (down 17% compared with the same period of the marketing year 2022-23).
Soybean prices are on the decrease in the United States as harvesting progresses. By September 17, farmers have harvested 5% of planned soybean crops (3% last year and a five-year average of 4%). Softening soybean meal and oil markets have additionally affected soybean quotes.
Large volumes of corn shipped from Brazil, along with growing competition from the U.S., are putting pressure on global prices. According to Conab, farmers harvested 96% of the 2022-23 safrinha corn crop by September 17, while harvesting was already complete by the same time last year.
Corn prices are on the decrease in the United States as harvesting progresses. By September 17, farmers have harvested 9% of planned corn crops (7% last year and an average for 5 years) and planted 15% of the projected areas under winter wheat (19% and 16%, respectively).
About 683,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started September 1 and ended September 20 compared with 876,000 t during the entire August. Almost 519,000 t of grain were exported through the western land border crossing points in September 1-20
Approximately 9,500 wagons with various goods were found waiting for a transfer through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points on September 20 compared with 8,800 wagons in late August.
