More than 9,200 wagons with various goods were found waiting for a transfer through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points on November 16 compared with 11,600 wagons in late October.
The offer of Ukrainian sunflower oil has increased, and exporters have raised prices due to quite healthy demand from North African, Turkish, Indian and Chinese importers. This week, the oil is offered at $900-920/t CIF Mersin, $890/t CIF Marmara and $895/t CIF Izmir for November-December shipments.
The overall cargo turnover reached 739,000 t in the Liepaja SEZ in October (up 119,000 t compared with September). The result has become the highest since April 2022. Note that the increase is solely due to a 142,000 t hike in transshipment of dry bulk cargo to 573,000 t.
The cargo turnover plunged by 335,000 t to 797,000 t at the Ventspils Freeport in October, showing a 30% slump compared with September. In particular, transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 365,000 t to 393,000 t.
Prices for sunflower oil have increased in the Black Sea region as supplies from Ukraine declined. At the same time, major European, North African and Turkish importers are showing stronger demand.
On average, as many as 209 wagons were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing point as of November 9 (down 41 units in two weeks).
About 630 wagons were reportedly heading to the Batiovo – Epereshke land border crossing point on November 13, including 90 wagons with grain and 84 wagons with vegetable oil. As many as 103 wagons of which 81 units with grain were on their way to the Chop – Zahony border crossing on that date.
More than 635,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started November 1 and ended November 8, while a total of 1.73 million t of grain were supplied abroad in October, according to updated reports.
A total of 120.59 million tonnes of goods of various product groups were transported in the Ukrzaliznytsia rail network during the period started January 1 and ended October 31, 2023, down 7% compared with the same period of the previous year.
The cargo turnover of the Port of Klaipeda increased by 1% in October compared with September.
