As of now, 8 km of new 1520 mm wide track has been completed between Chop and Uzhhorod, and 7.6 km of European standard track has been laid, which is 40% of the total amount of work. This was reported by the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
The state-owned enterprise Moldovan Railways (Calea Ferată din Moldova) has announced a series of auctions for the sale of rolling stock, equipment and scrap metal. The auctions will be held in April 2025.

A total of 16.7 million t of cargo were transported by railways in Poland in February 2025, down 1.1 million t or 6.4% compared with February 2024 and down 900,000 t or 5% from January 2025.

Ukrainian wagon building enterprises sold 170 freight wagons in February 2025, including 122 hoppers, 33 gondola cars, 12 flat cars, and three cement bunker-type wagons.
Kremenchuk Steel Works produced about 700 t of large railway steel castings in February 2025. It is worth noting that the enterprise did not produce large railway castings in January 2025.
Ukraine and Latvia will deepen cooperation in the development of the railway sector. In particular, it is planned to integrate the Ukrainian railroad into the Rail Baltica project on a 1435 mm gauge.
During the conference “Logistics as a Driver of Economic Growth” held by the independent think tank “We Build Ukraine”, Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava said that the construction of a 1435 mm track to Romania on the Chernivtsi-Suceava route will begin in 2026. A feasibility study for this project is currently being prepared.
