During the InnoTrans 2024 exhibition in Berlin (September 24-27), Ukrzaliznytsia and PKP Group agreed to develop intermodal routes between Asia and Europe. The companies plan to work on increasing the capacity and efficiency of border crossings and expanding the border railway infrastructure.

In September, some operators raised the rental rates of flat cars meant for timber transportation. Rental rate of both box cars with a body capacity of 161-175 cu m and fitting platforms changed due to currency fluctuations.

The volume of iron ore transportation by railway dropped by 11% to 3.2 million t in Ukraine in August 2024 compared with July 2024. Exports decreased by 12% month-on-month to 2.3 million t, and domestic deliveries fell by 7% month-on-month to 900,000 t.
From September 17 and until this decision is revoked, the convention will be in effect for the operator ZSSK Cargo, which will restrict transportation of goods of any nomenclature from Ukrainian stations via the Chop-Exp border crossing to the Bratislava Palenisko station in Slovakia (ZSR, OBB, CD) for all consignees
Continental Farmers Group has received the first batch of grain hoppers (50 units) under a contract for 250 hoppers with a body capacity of 116 cubic meters and a lifting capacity of 70.5 tons. Delivery of the remaining rolling stock under the contract is expected in several batches over the coming months.
This year, Volyn-Zerno-Product (VILIA) and Agroprosperis imported 27,000 tons of fertilizers from the Polish manufacturer Grupa Azoty, including 18 trains with 27,000 tons of UAN-32.
