Handling at Ukraine – Hungary border crossings*
A total of 1.1 million t of cargo were transferred through the Chop – Zahony land border crossing point in 2023, of which 108,200 t fell on imported goods while 1 million t were export cargo. Thus, the cargo flow increased bylmost 400,000 t in 2023 compared with 2022 or 56% year-on-year.
Three-day strike in Germany: rail freight traffic suspended
The German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL) announced in a statement that DB Cargo employees would suspend work from the evening of January 9 to the evening of January 12 to go on strike. Passenger traffic operators Deutsche Bahn AG, Transdev and City Bahn Chemnitz have also joined the action (from January 10 to 12).
