Liepaja SEZ cargo turnover in October
The overall cargo turnover reached 739,000 t in the Liepaja SEZ in October (up 119,000 t compared with September). The result has become the highest since April 2022. Note that the increase is solely due to a 142,000 t hike in transshipment of dry bulk cargo to 573,000 t.

New multimodal terminal Zdunska Wola – Karsznice launched in Poland
PKP CARGO Group announced the official launch of the multimodal terminal Zdunska Wola – Karsznice, in which more than PLN 128 million (about €28 million) was invested. It covers an area of 13 hectares and has a transshipment capacity of 500,000 multimodal units per year.

Ukrzaliznytsia planning to purchase 1,000 containers by the end of 2023
As part of the intermodal transportation development, Ukrzaliznytsia JSC plans to purchase 1,000 containers by the end of 2023. In total, it is planned to purchase 500 20-foot Open Top containers for the transportation of bulk cargo, including ore, and 500 20-foot bulk containers for the transportation of agricultural products.
LTG Cargo and Ukrzaliznytsia test new route Kaunas – Kyiv
LTG Cargo (Lietuvos geležinkeliai) and Ukrzaliznytsia have tested a new cargo transportation route: semi-trailers delivered from the Klaipeda seaport were transferred to the railway at the Kaunas intermodal terminal and sent to Kyiv.
Ferrovie dello Stato and MSC sign MoU to construct new intermodal maritime transportation terminals
The Italian national railway holding Ferrovie dello Stato and the shipping company MSC have signed a memorandum of understanding on the creation of new terminals, which, through more active and efficient cooperation, will expand the logistics network for the transportation of goods to/from the ports of Italy and Europe.
Ventspils Freeport cargo turnover in October
The cargo turnover plunged by 335,000 t to 797,000 t at the Ventspils Freeport in October, showing a 30% slump compared with September. In particular, transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 365,000 t to 393,000 t.
