Stevedoring companies of the Ventspils Freeport processed almost 1.3 million tonnes of various cargo in November. Note that the overall handling volume was 255,000 t higher in October.
The overall volume of cargo handled by the stevedores operating at the port of Klaipeda has not changed much in November compared with October 2022. So, a total of 3.7 million tonnes of goods were processed in November (down 7,000 t against October).
Export quotes for Ukrainian grains have been growing this week supported by insufficient number of cargo offers caused by restrained sales by farmers and high competition for high-quality grain between buyers.
Thermal coal prices have been actively declining this week. In Europe, pace of trade is minimal, with sporadic deals reported.
Prices for US-origin soybeans have risen owing to brisk demand from foreign buyers and growing market of soybean meal.
No major shifts have been reported in Kazakhstan. Grain export quotes hold steady, while pace of trade is still moderate.
Prices for EU grains have been sliding down, partly pressured by an increase in export forecast for French wheat this season to 10.3 million t (300,000 t above the previous estimate), up 17% from last year’s volume and the highest level in the last three years. The Russian grain export market continues to show mixed price dynamics. The market picture remains ambiguous, which has a corresponding impact on pricing.
In Australia, wheat prices have inched down, while barley export quotes stay at last week’s levels.
