Buying interest in phosphate fertilizers remains moderate in Brazil. Moroccan MAP 11:52 for shipments in December is offered at $570/t C&F. Russian-made MAP 12:52 is being purchased at $560-565/t C&F. The Indian company NFL has bought 50,000 t of Moroccan DAP at $594-595/t C&F for shipment in December.
About 185 wagons were transferred daily through the the Vadul-Siret – Dornesti (Romania) land border crossing as of December 19 (down 5 wagons in two weeks). By destinations, approximately 146 wagons with export cargo (up 10 units) and 39 wagons with imported goods (down 24 units) were handled daily in the period under review.
As many as 8,400 wagons loaded with various goods were awaiting transferring through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points on December 14 compared with almost 9,800 wagons in late November.
The phosphate market is generally calm, with players showing low activity, waiting and watching. In Egypt, only small lots are offered for sale. Some importers are requesting prices for Egyptian DAP, which are currently almost in line with Moroccan fertilizer.
Trade has perked up on the Egyptian urea market, with deals to sell at least 135-140,000 t of granular fertilizer signed at $340-350/t FOB. Abu Qir has sold 45-50,000 t of urea at the same price. The railway traffic of mineral fertilizers dropped by 44,000 t to about 157,000 t in Ukraine in November, showing a 22% plunge compared with October.

The November cargo turnover decreased by 149,000 t or 20% month-on-month to 590,000 t at the Liepaja Free Economic Zone (SEZ).
The cargo turnover of the Port of Klaipeda remained unchanged in November compared with October. Meanwhile, a 135,000 t decrease in transshipment at the Klaipeda State Seaport to 2.9 million t was offset by a 129,000 t rise in handling of crude oil at the Butinge terminal to 790,000 t.
A total of 134.7 million tonnes of goods of various product groups were transported in the Ukrzaliznytsia rail network during the period started January 1 and ended November 30, 2023, down 4% compared with the same period of the previous year.
