According to the Decision No. 8788 published in the official gazette of Turkey “Resmi Gazete” on August 6, the government of Turkey has set tariff quotas for sunflower seeds and sunflower oil, which will be effective in 2025.
A total of 5.04 million t of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine in June, falling behind the May volume by 25% or 1.67 million t. In particular, exports included 4.1 million t of grain (down 26% month-on-month or 1.48 million t), 490,000 t of vegetable oil (down 26% month-on-month or 170,000 t)
In June, the Riga Freeport processed 1.4 million t of cargo, up 91,000 t compared with May.
The port of Klaipeda stepped up transshipment by 252,000 t to almost 3.57 million t in June compared with May.
The cargo turnover did not change much at the Liepaja SEZ in June compared with May. Thus, port operators processed 576,000 t of cargo in June, which is 12,800 t below the volume handled in May.
The cargo turnover has been shrinking at the Riga Freeport for the third month in a row. In May, port operators handled about 1.3 million t of goods, falling behind the April result by about 122,000 t.
In May, the cargo turnover has dropped to the minimum since January 2021 at the Ventspils Freeport. Port operators handled at best 493,000 t of goods of all groups in May, down 143,000 t compared with April.
A total of 6.7 million t of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine in May, down 7% or 490,000 t compared with April. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine will ship sunflower oil for the first time under the humanitarian food initiative of the President of Ukraine “Grain from Ukraine”. The products in the amount of over 2,450 tons will be shipped to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Djibouti, Mauritania and Palestine.
The port of Klaipeda’s overall transshipment volume dropped by 242,000 t to 3.3 million t in May compared with April due to a 294,000 t slump in the cargo turnover to 2.4 million t at the Klaipeda State Seaport.
