The overall cargo turnover rose by 97,000 t to 3.3 million t at the port of Klaipeda in March 2024 compared with February. This is mainly due to increased transshipment in the Klaipeda State Seaport (up 93,000 t to 2.7 million t).
Since its launch on August 8, 2023, as many as 1,286 vessels have used the Ukrainian Navy’s temporary corridor sailing to/from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports.

On April 3, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war, a container ship called at one of the ports of Greater Odesa. On the same day, the Panamanian-flagged T Mare vessel left the port via the Ukrainian Navy’s temporary corridor in the opposite direction to Constanta.
Approximately 40 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were exported from Ukraine during the period started July 1, 2023 and ended March 31, 2024 (down 13% compared with the same period of the marketing year 2022-23).

At the end of March, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company launched its third SLG barge. This was announced by the company’s CEO Dmytro Moskalenko on his Facebook page.
An already weak trade on the small-tonnage freight market of the Black and Mediterranean Seas has slackened further after March 25. This even applies to such market drivers as Ukrainian grain and Egyptian fertilizers.
The small-tonnage shipping market remains weak and overtonnaged in the Black Sea and eastern Mediterranean. “There are quite many grain offers from Ukraine, but many of them are not firm,” a broker commented.
