Ferrovie dello Stato and MSC sign MoU to construct new intermodal maritime transportation terminals

            The Italian national railway holding Ferrovie dello Stato and the shipping company MSC have signed a memorandum of understanding on the creation of new terminals, which, through more active and efficient cooperation, will expand the logistics network for the transportation of goods to/from the ports of Italy and Europe.

Ventspils Freeport cargo turnover in October

            The cargo turnover plunged by 335,000 t to 797,000 t at the Ventspils Freeport in October, showing a 30% slump compared with September. In particular, transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 365,000 t to 393,000 t.

Akiem leasing company orders 30 Dragon2 electric locomotives from Newag

            On November 16, Akiem leasing company and Polish manufacturer Newag signed an agreement to supply 30 Dragon 2 electric locomotives (with an option for another 50 such locomotives). The total value of the order is €500 million.

Convention for cargo transportation to Poland for one of carriers

            From November 18 and until this decision is revoked, the convention will be in effect for transportation of all goods from Ukrainian railway stations through the Izov-Exp border crossing to Poland for the TransLogService Sp.z.o.o. consignee.

DTEK Energy purchases additional 70k tonnes of thermal coal from Poland

            DTEK Energy has contracted additional 70,000 tonnes of thermal coal from Poland for the heating season. In total, for the period from September 2023 to March 2024, the volume of imported coal purchases has been increased to 280,000 t.

Latvia allocates €50,000 to contribute to Grain from Ukraine Program

            On November 14, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia decided to allocate €50,000 from the state budget to contribute to the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian aid program. This is Latvia’s second investment in this program – last year the country also financed assistance in the amount of €50,000.

India simplifies procedure of imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

            The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of India has included Ukraine in the list of countries that do not treat grain crops with fumigants containing methyl bromide (CH3Br).

LTG Cargo Ukraine to set up transportation of 44 heavy containers with rapeseed oil from Yahodyn to Klaipeda port

            LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of Lietuvos geležinkeliai (LTG Cargo), together with the Lithuanian company Tri Trans is organizing the transportation of 44 heavy containers of rapeseed oil from Yahodyn station (Ukraine) to the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania).
