Rīgas Universālais Termināls (Riga Universal Terminal, RUT) has received and unloaded the first container train with Ukrainian agricultural products delivered to the Freeport of Riga by SIA LDZ Cargo, a subsidiary of VAS Latvijas dzelzceļš.
Within the memorandum of understanding signed in September 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia, the Austrian railway company Rail Cargo Austria and the German wagon operator VTG successfully carried out a test intermodal flight, transporting semi-trailers on the Kyiv-Budapest route.
Approximately 3,300 wagons with grain were found waiting for unloading at Ukrainian sea ports on October 12. Taking into account that approximately 417 wagons per day are accepted at the stations, it will take about 8 days to serve all the wagons currently standing in the railway network waiting for unloading at port terminals.
From July to September, LTG Cargo Ukraine (a subsidiary of Lietuvos geležinkeliai (LTG Cargo)) transported 128 different wagons between Ukraine and Lithuania. In particular, the transportation of goods in grain hoppers involved cooperation between operators from Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania – Ukrzaliznytsia, PKP Cargo, PKP LHS, and LTG Cargo.
Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus said that the country will build the first grain port in Gdansk, which will be used, in particular, to service grain transit from Ukraine.
Metinvest Polska has opened a new 7,700 sq m covered warehouse in Poland. With this warehouse, Metinvest Group plans to expand its reach to end customers, accelerate turnover, increase sales of steel products in Europe and improve service levels.

ActiveProject is completing the construction of a dry port located near the border with Hungary and Romania. The terminal was designed using modern 3D tools (BIM), which significantly accelerated the construction of the facility.
On October 8, two more bulk carriers used the temporary corridor of the Ukrainian Navy. In particular, the vessels Forza Doria (32.8k dwt, flying the flag of Barbados) and New Legacy (28.7k dwt, flying the flag of Belize) departed from the ports of Greater Odesa.
A total of 107 million tonnes of goods of various product groups were transported in the Ukrzaliznytsia rail network during the period started January 1 and ended September 30, 2023, down 9% compared with the same period of the previous year.
