Brief review of operation of Danube ports
Ukrainian Danube ports handled 29.4 million t of cargo from January 1 till November 30, 2023, which is almost six times higher than in the pre-war period, that is before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Grain exports from Ukraine by railway nearing 1 mmt in Jan 1-10
The volume of grain transportation from Ukraine to foreign markets reached almost 991,000 t in January 1-10, 2024 compared with 2.73 million t in December 2023. About 790,000 t of grain meant for oversea shipments arrived at Ukraine’s ports in the period under review (against 2.1 million t in December).
Handling at Ukraine – Poland border crossings*
A total of 8.5 million t of export cargo and 1.4 million t of imported goods were transferred through the Izov – Hrubieszów border crossing point in 2023 (down 928,000 t and 243,000 t, respectively, compared with 2022).

About 8,200 wagons with grain were found waiting for unloading at Ukrainian sea ports on January 11, 2024. Taking into account that approximately 1,200 wagons per day are accepted at the stations
USAID AGRO Program to co-finance expansion of elevator capacities in Ukraine
At the beginning of the year, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a program to co-finance (up to ₴270 million) the development of elevator capacity for grain processing, drying and storage for micro, small and medium-sized agribusinesses (MSMEs*).
Port of Klaipeda cargo turnover in December
The cargo turnover dropped by 230,000 t to 3.4 million t at the Port of Klaipeda in December compared with November. In particular, Klaipeda State Seaport reports a 132,000 t plunge in December transshipment volume to 2.7 million t. Handling of crude oil dropped by 98,000 t to 692,000 t at the Butinge terminal.
