Caspit Group acquires two dry bulk vessels for fertilizer transportation on the Danube

            Caspit Trade (part of the Serbian Caspit Group), a fertilizer producer, has purchased two dry bulk carriers, CASPIT and Mark (with a total capacity of 2,800 tons), to transport fertilizers along the Danube. The company estimates the shipping time from Serbia to Ukraine at four to five days.

Freight rolling stock rental rates in Baltic countries in July 2024

            Rental rates have held steady in the Baltic countries in July 2024. Only the rental rates of box cars with a body capacity of 161-175 cu m and fitting flat cars have changed insignificantly due to currency fluctuations.

TAS Dniprovagonmash inks contract for the supply of 1,500 railcars of various models

            TAS Dniprovagonmash has announced that it is starting to implement a contract with an international company (the customer’s information has not yet been disclosed). As part of this agreement, the plant will supply 1,500 railcars of various models to the customer. In addition, the company emphasizes that it plans to develop new models.

Turkey ratifies free trade agreement with Ukraine

            On August 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed Law No. 7523 (dated July 28, 2024) “On Approval of the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Ukraine and Authorization of the President to Directly Approve Amendments to the Annexes to the Agreement”.

LDZ Cargo sells locomotives and wagons

            LDZ Cargo, a subsidiary of Latvian Railways (Latvijas dzelzceļš), is holding an auction on August 13 to sell two TEP70 locomotives. The starting price for the 0234 locomotive is €102,000, and for that of 0250 is €112,000. The auction step is €5,000.

Lemtrans to commission container terminal in Vinnytsia in Q3 2024

            Railroad operator Lemtrans is building a container terminal in Vinnytsia with an annual capacity of 30,000 TEU. Construction started in spring 2024 and will be carried out in two stages. The total investment will amount to $15 million.
