Port of Constanta handled 3 mmt of grain in November
A total of 3 million t of agricultural products meant for shipments to foreign markets were handled at the Romanian port of Constanta in November 2023 (down 24% compared with October), including 900,000 t of transit grain of mostly Ukrainian origin.

Freight rolling stock rental rates in Ukraine in December
Gondola car rental rates have been growing in December. Market participants explain this by active shipments of iron ore. Thus, iron ore exports reached 2.3 million t in November, up 20% month-on-month. In particular, iron ore shipments to seaports surged by 66% month-on-month to 1.3 million t.
Traffic on the Danube temporarily suspended
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, traffic on the Danube River has been suspended since December 6. As of December 5, only one vessel of more than 10k dwt was expected to sail west to Sulina, but the canal administration would not agree to suspend downstream navigation for the sake of one vessel
New platform for timber transportation from Innofreight
The Austrian logistics company Innofreight has manufactured a Sgwrs (Smart GigaWood Round & Sawn) wagon for the transportation of roundwood and lumber. The first batch of 23 units was delivered to the German plant Schwaiger Holzindustrie this year, and the rolling stock is already actively used in the company’s operations.

Port of Constanta: updated plans for anchorage commissioning
In March 2024, the Romanian port of Constanta plans to launch an additional anchorage for Ukrainian agricultural products. This agreement was reached in Romania at a meeting on increasing the export capacity of Ukrainian Danube ports.
