About 302 wagons (four trains) were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing in the period from April 1 till April 6. A total of 3,421 wagons were reportedly waiting at the Chop station on April 6.
Exports of certain goods by railway, thousand tonnes
TX Logistik AG (part of the Mercitalia Group, a subsidiary of Ferrovie delle Stato Italiane, the Italian state railroad) has successfully implemented a new freight transportation project, the so-called “triangular” service, which connects the markets of Italy, Austria, Germany, and Romania.
Almost 2.48 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain were exported by railways in March 2023, a 0.4 million t decrease compared with February 2023.
A total of 14,150 wagons were waiting for unloading at Ukraine’s land border crossings on April 5 (up to 2,350 units less than on March 31 and 3,030 units below February 28).
This year, the Rail Cargo Group, part of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), is investing in 300 new multimodal tilt swap bodies that are suitable for rail and road transport.

A total of 38.45 million tonnes of grain and legumes were exported from Ukraine during the period started July 1 and ended April 5, 2023, down 15% year-on-year.
