Approximately 40 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were exported from Ukraine during the period started July 1, 2023 and ended March 31, 2024 (down 13% compared with the same period of the marketing year 2022-23).

A total of 4.1 million t of iron ore were carried by railways in Ukraine in February, showing an increase of 9% compared with January. Iron ore exports rose by 11% month-on-month to 3.3 million t, while home deliveries remained at the level of the previous month, still averaging some 800,000 t.
Astarta is the first Ukrainian company to export sugar by sea, having loaded and shipped a vessel with 3,000 t of the product to North Africa. This was announced by Vyacheslav Chuk, Astarta’s commercial director, during his speech at a conference in Dubai in March.
The Riga Freeport stepped up transshipment of mining and metallurgical products by 150% year-on-year to 178,800 t in the period from January 1 to February 29, 2024. A total of 17.7 million tonnes of cargo of various product groups were transported by railway in Poland in January 2024 (unchanged month-on-month but down 13% year-on-year).
The stevedoring companies of the Liepaja SEZ all together handled about 624,000 t of various types of cargo in February (down 10% month-on-month or 69,000 t from January).
The Riga Freeport announced a 299,000 t slump in the February transshipment to 1.4 million t compared with January.
The cargo turnover dropped by 876,000 t to 3.2 million t at the port of Klaipeda in February.
