Poland: Up to 17.6 mmt goods carried by railway in Feb 2024
A total of 17.58 million tonnes of various goods were transported by railway in Poland in February 2024, down 1% month-on-month and down 8% year-on-year.

Exports of Ukrainian agricultural products in March 2024
Almost 7 million t of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine in March 2024 (down 5% or about 350,000 t compared with February). In particular, exports included 5.89 million t of grain (down 5% year-on-year or 300,000 t), 660,000 t of vegetable oil
Riga Freeport cargo turnover in March 2024
The stevedoring companies operating in the Riga Freeport handled almost 1.6 million t of various types of cargo in March 2024, showing a 123,000 t hike compared with February. The increase is due to brisker transshipment of general cargo
Iron ore railway deliveries from Ukraine in March 2024
March deliveries of iron ore by railway reached 4.4 million t in Ukraine, exceeding the February result by about 8%. Iron ore exports showed an 8% monthly increase to 3.6 million t, while traffic within the country surged by 10% month-on-month to 800,000 t.
Liepaja SEZ cargo turnover in March 2024
The Liepaja SEZ cargo turnover did not change much in March compared to February. The port operators all together handled about 637,000 t of cargo (up 2% month-on-month or up 13,000 t against February).
Port of Klaipeda cargo turnover in March 2024
The overall cargo turnover rose by 97,000 t to 3.3 million t at the port of Klaipeda in March 2024 compared with February. This is mainly due to increased transshipment in the Klaipeda State Seaport (up 93,000 t to 2.7 million t).
Grain exports from Ukraine in MY 2023-24
Approximately 40 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were exported from Ukraine during the period started July 1, 2023 and ended March 31, 2024 (down 13% compared with the same period of the marketing year 2022-23).
Export deliveries of ferrous metals by railway in February 2024
The railway traffic of rolled steel products, semi-finished products, pipes, pig iron and scrap of ferrous metals decreased by 9% month-on-month to 700,000 t in Ukraine in February. Iron ore railway deliveries from Ukraine in February 2024
A total of 4.1 million t of iron ore were carried by railways in Ukraine in February, showing an increase of 9% compared with January. Iron ore exports rose by 11% month-on-month to 3.3 million t, while home deliveries remained at the level of the previous month, still averaging some 800,000 t.
Astarta starts exporting sugar by sea
Astarta is the first Ukrainian company to export sugar by sea, having loaded and shipped a vessel with 3,000 t of the product to North Africa. This was announced by Vyacheslav Chuk, Astarta’s commercial director, during his speech at a conference in Dubai in March.
