A total of 19.3 million tonnes of various goods were transported by rail in Poland in August, up 3% month-on-month but down 9% year-on-year. The period from January 1 to August 31, 2023 ended with rail transportation of almost 153.3 million tonnes of cargo, down 8% year-on-year.
TAURON Wytwarzanie has signed a contract for the delivery of coal by rail from the suppliers’ sidings to the Nowe Jaworzno power plant. The service will be provided by PKP CARGO for 18 months. The contract is worth about $2.6 million.
The cargo turnover increased by 118,000 t to 3.6 million t in the Port of Klaipeda in September. The Klaipeda State Seaport transshipped 2.8 million t of cargo in the period under review (up 172,000 t from August)
Almost 1.07 million tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started September 1 and ended September 30 (up 196,000 t compared with August). Meanwhile, the grain transportation volume reached almost 180,200 t in October 1-4.
Approximately 181 wagons were transferred daily through the the Vadul-Siret – Dornesti (Romania) land border crossing as of October 3 (up 1 wagon compared with the daily rate a week ago).
About 500 wagons were reportedly heading to the Batiovo – Epereshke land border crossing point on October 2. Meanwhile, some 50 wagons including 22 wagons with clay were moving to Chop – Zahony border crossing point on that date.
About 2,800 wagons were moving to the Izov station on September 27. Up to 2,000 wagons were on their way to the Mostyska-2 station on that date, including 1,000 containers, 450 wagons with metals and 219 wagons with coal.
As many as 309 wagons were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing point in the period from of September 1 to September 28 (down 9 wagons compared with September 1-21).
DTEK has delivered the first 70 wagons (a total of 4,200 t) of coal from Poland to one of its TPPs. A total of 210,000 t of coal have been acquired with the supply in the period from September 2023 to March 2024.
Almost 954,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started September 1 and ended September 27 compared with 876,000 t during entire August.
