Estonian Operail lost 83% of its cargo traffic during full-scale war in Ukraine
Under the direct and indirect influence of the war in Ukraine, the Estonian group of companies Operail has reduced rail freight traffic from 3.6 million tonnes in 1H 2022 to 1.1 million tonnes this year. For comparison, the figure reached 6.6 million t from January to June 2021.
Port of Klaipeda cargo turnover in July
The total cargo turnover of the Port of Klaipeda decreased by 395,000 t to 3 million t in July compared with June.
Handling at Ukraine – Slovakia border crossings*
As many as 287 wagons were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing point from August 1 to August 17 (up 11 wagons compared with the period from August 1 to August 10).
Handling at Ukraine – Poland border crossings*
A total of 1,302 wagons were waiting in a queue at the Izov station on August 1-16, while 1,219 wagons were standing at the Mostyska-2 station and 400 wagons at the Yahodyn station (170 units with grain, 59 units with clay, 66 units with cement, and 33 containers).

A total of 409,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started August 1 and ended August 16 compared with 805,000 t during the entire July.
UDP announces tender for barge transportation of agri products to Constanta
PJSC Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) has announced so-called English auctions for transportation of agricultural products by barges from Ukrainian ports on the Danube to the seaport of Constanta in October.

A total of 82.7 million tonnes of various goods were transported in the Ukrzaliznytsia railway network in the period from January 1 to July 30, 2023, down 13% year-on-year.
Ukraine’s grain export by rail barely reached 235 tonnes in Aug 1-10
A total of 235,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started August 1 and ended August 10, 2023. Note that the corresponding transportation volume averaged about 805,000 t in July.
Riga Freeport cargo turnover in July
At the Freeport of Riga, the cargo turnover increased by 97,000 t to 1.4 million tonnes in July compared with June 2023.
