In summer 2022, the risk of a shortage of natural gas during the period of low temperatures forced the Moldavian authorities to take a decision to enable S.A. Termoelectrica, the main producer of electricity and heat in the country, to step up the use of mazut.
In the first quarter of this year, the port complex of Szczecin – Świnoujście handled 9.39 million t of various cargoes, which is 13% more compared to the same period last year.

In early April, the first LNG tanker (Vivit Americas – 299 m long, 46 m wide and with a capacity of 174,060 cu m of LNG) arrived at the Finnish port of Inkoo, located in the Gulf of Finland, with a cargo delivered by Vitol from the US plant Venture Global Calcasieu Pass (Louisiana).
The stevedoring companies operating in the Port of Klaipeda stepped up handling of various types of cargoes by 10% month-on-month to 3.4 million t in March 2023, exceeding the February handling volume by 309,000 t.
