MSC to acquire stake in Spanish national rail freight operator Renfe Mercancías
Shipping company MSC will acquire 50% of the Spanish national rail freight operator Renfe Mercancías. The transaction will be carried out with the participation of MSC’s logistics department Medlog and the railway operator Medway.
Rail Cargo Hungaria starts carrying Ukrainian iron ore via Croatia
Rail Cargo Hungaria has announced the completion of repair work on the railway in Serbia, which affected the transportation of ore from the Eperjeske station. Given the accumulation of cargo, the carrier has found an additional route to deliver iron ore through Croatia.
Ukraine’s grain export by rail totals 683k tonnes in September 1-20
About 683,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started September 1 and ended September 20 compared with 876,000 t during the entire August. Almost 519,000 t of grain were exported through the western land border crossing points in September 1-20
Goods awaiting transfer through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points
Approximately 9,500 wagons with various goods were found waiting for a transfer through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points on September 20 compared with 8,800 wagons in late August.
RCH transports Ukrainian grain in containers to Italy
At a meeting held by Ukrzaliznytsia with Hungarian carriers, a representative of Rail Cargo Hungaria said that after the successful processing of grain transshipment for transportation to Italy, he expects an increase in the number of train departures in this direction.
First test train runs on Kyiv-Vienna route
At a meeting between Ukrzaliznytsia and Hungarian operators, RCH (Rail Cargo Hungaria) announced that on September 26 the first test train was sent on the Kyiv-Vienna route.
One of carriers prohibited from transporting goods to Hungary
Starting from September 26, one of the carriers (RCX) is prohibited from transporting all cargoes from Ukrainian railway stations to the Torokbalint Depo station in Hungary for all consignees.
Ban on transportation to Izmail and Izmail-Exp stations for some consignees
From September 27 and until this decision is canceled, a convention will be in effect that will restrict transportation of all goods to Izmail and Izmail-Exp stations (Odesa Railways) for such consignees as Sof Marine LLC, Valetta PE, Priority-B LLC, Favorit Izmail Bud LLC, and Izmail Sea Commercial Port SE (for Sof Marine LLC).
Production and offer prices of large railway castings in Ukraine
Kremenchuk Steel Works did not produce large railway steel castings in August 2023, while the total production averaged some 6,800 t during the period started January 1 and ended August 31, 2023.
