Innofreight offers new solutions for grain transportation by rail in Europe
In order to meet the demand for grain transportation across Europe, the logistics company Innofreight has developed a new type of container – GrainTainers. In early October, during the visit of Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, the company presented loaded wagons at the Dobra terminal in Slovakia.
Vossloh Rolling Stock and RAILPOOL conclude contract for supply of Modula locomotives
On October 20, RAILPOOL and Vossloh Rolling Stock in Kiel, Germany, signed several agreements for the supply of 45 Modula hybrid locomotives (in two variations that are certified for the German and Dutch markets, among others) with an option to expand the order by 142 traction units.

Węglokoks Group acquires controlling stake in Port Północny, a transshipment and warehousing company in Gdansk
In early October, the Polish Węglokoks SA Group, which unites companies from the mining, metallurgical, energy and logistics sectors, closed a deal to acquire shares in the Port Północny transshipment and warehouse company in Gdańsk. The company now owns 80.43% of the port’s shares.
Opening a new grain terminal at Bulgarian port of Varna
A new grain terminal has recently been put into operation at the Bulgarian port of Varna. The project was implemented by two companies – Port Varna EAD and Grain Terminal Varna-West AD, with some €25 million invested.
Navigation suspended in Sulina and Bystre canals
As of October 20, navigation on the Sulina and Bystre canals has been suspended due to unfavourable weather conditions. However, no restrictions have been imposed within the harbor.
Handling at Ukraine – Slovakia border crossings*
Up to 291 wagons were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing point as of October 12 (down 18 units compared with the previous week). In particular, 258 wagons were moving on export routes (down 20 units), while 33 wagons arrived with imported goods (up 2 wagons).
