KfW IPEX-Bank finances the purchase of 800 new intermodal wagons for EUROWAGON

            KfW IPEX-Bank, a subsidiary of Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), a German state-owned bank, and EUROWAGON, a Polish leasing company, have signed an agreement to finance the purchase of 800 new intermodal wagons.

About 818k tonnes of Ukrainian grain carried by rail in Aug 1-30

            A total of 818,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started August 1 and ended August 30 compared with 805,000 t during the entire July.

Siemens Mobility and ÖBB put Level 2 ETCS into operation on route between Linz and Föcklabrück (Austria)

Transport of all goods through some border crossings to Poland and Germany temporarily restricted

            Between September 2 and December 9, transport of all cargoes from Ukraine to Poland and Germany through the Kostrzyn (PKP) and Kustrin-Kietz (DB) border crossings is suspended for all consignees.

Two ships with pig iron and ore left Pivdennyi port heading to Bosphorus

            Vessels that were blocked in Ukraine’s Black Sea ports due to the war continue to use the temporary corridor. Two bulk carriers, the Liberian-flagged Anna-Theresa and the Marshall Islands-flagged Ocean Courtesy, have left Pivdennyi port and are heading toward the Bosphorus.

Polish port of Gdansk planning to step up transshipment of Ukrainian grain

            Due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports, Poland is preparing to increase the volume of grain cargo transshipment from Ukraine, in particular through the port of Gdansk. In the first six months of 2023, the port handled 1.4 million tons of grain cargo (mainly corn)

QTerminals acquires container terminal in Rotterdam port

            QTerminals, a joint venture of Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar – 51% stake) and Qatar Navigation (Milaha – 49% stake), has acquired a controlling stake in Kramer Holding BV (Kramer Group), which operates the Rotterdam Container Terminal.
