In July, the cargo turnover at the Riga Freeport dropped to the lowest level since January 2021. Stevedoring companies reported a decline in handling volumes of all types of cargoes, with 1.3 million t transshipped in July (down 142,000 t or 10% compared with June).
The cargo turnover dropped by 61,000 t to 434,000 t at the Ventspils Freeport in June compared with May. The decline was seen in literally all groups of cargo.
The cargo turnover did not change much at the Liepaja SEZ in June compared with May. Thus, port operators processed 576,000 t of cargo in June, which is 12,800 t below the volume handled in May.
The cargo turnover has been shrinking at the Riga Freeport for the third month in a row. In May, port operators handled about 1.3 million t of goods, falling behind the April result by about 122,000 t.
In May, the cargo turnover has dropped to the minimum since January 2021 at the Ventspils Freeport. Port operators handled at best 493,000 t of goods of all groups in May, down 143,000 t compared with April.
