The Italian national railway holding Ferrovie dello Stato and the shipping company MSC have signed a memorandum of understanding on the creation of new terminals, which, through more active and efficient cooperation, will expand the logistics network for the transportation of goods to/from the ports of Italy and Europe.
The cargo turnover plunged by 335,000 t to 797,000 t at the Ventspils Freeport in October, showing a 30% slump compared with September. In particular, transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 365,000 t to 393,000 t.

The small-tonnage market remains depressed in the Black and Mediterranean Seas. The overall cargo turnover dropped by 139,000 t to 1.6 million t at the Riga Freeport in October, showing a decrease of 8% compared with September 2023.

Due to heavy rainfall, the water level has gradually risen in the upper and then in the middle section of the Danube river. At present, water levels allow working throughout the Danube, and the fleet is being loaded at full draft of 2.5-2.7 meters.
