Riga Freeport cargo turnover in April 2024

            The Riga Freeport handled about 1.4 million tonnes of various types of goods in April. Therefore, the total cargo turnover decreased by 108,000 t in April compared with March.

            The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Vilnius by Yevhen Lyashchenko (CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia), Vyacheslav Yeryomin (member of the Board of UZ), Egidijus Lazauskas (CEO of LTG Group), and Eglė Šimė (CEO of LTG Cargo).

New intermodal connection between Italy and Serbian terminal on the Danube

            On May 11, a new intermodal service between the Interporto di Cervignano terminal in Italy and the DPT Pancevo terminal in Serbia, both on the Danube, is to be launched. At the initial stage, trains will run once a week in both directions

Port of Klaipeda cargo turnover in April 2024

            The April cargo turnover of the port of Klaipeda increased by 244,000 t compared with March to almost 3.6 million t. This is mainly due to a  263,000 t hike in handling volume of crude oil at the Butinge terminal to 856,000 t (up 44% month-on-month).

Liepaja SEZ cargo turnover in April 2024

            The stevedoring companies of Liepaja SEZ reported a 52,000 t decrease in transshipment volumes of all types of cargo in April compared with March. Thus, the cargo turnover averaged some 585,000 t in the period under review.

ČD Cargo Poland wins tender for transportation of 1 mmt of coal

            ČD Cargo Poland, a subsidiary of the Czech national freight carrier, has won a tender to transport 1 million tons of coal from Silesian coal mines to the Polanec thermal power plant in Zawada. This is approximately nine loaded trains per week.

LTG Cargo to purchase 200 gondola cars

            Lithuanian carrier LTG Cargo has announced its intention to conduct a public procurement of 200 new 1520 mm gauge gondola cars for the transportation of bulk and other weather-resistant cargo.

Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company: repair works continue on Kapitan Antypov vessel

            According to Dmytro Moskalenko, General Director of Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, the dismantling of two main engines (the first of which weighs 7.5 tons), two generators and a gearbox on the ship Kapitan Antypov has been completed at the ÖSWAG shipyard (Linz, Austria).
