Handling at Ukraine – Slovakia border crossings*
About 321 wagons were transferred daily through the Chop – Čierna nad Tisou land border crossing point from August 1 to August 31 (up 15 wagons compared with the period from August 1 to August 24). In particular, 285 wagons were moving on export routes (up 18 units)
Handling at Ukraine – Hungary border crossings*
As many as 601 wagons were heading to the Batiovo – Epereshke land border crossing point on August 28, of which 194 wagons were loaded with grain and 166 wagons with vegetable oil. Up to 57 wagons including 55 wagons with grain were moving to the Chop – Zahony border crossing.

There were about 8,600 wagons with various goods waiting to be transferred through Ukraine’s western land border crossing points as of August 24 compared with 7,390 wagons seen in late July.

A total of 619,000 tonnes of grain were exported from Ukraine by railways during the period started August 1 and ended August 23 compared with 805,000 t during the entire July.

Export quotes for Ukrainian grain dropped significantly amid instability of shipments by sea and attacks by Russia. On the night of August 16, Russian armed forces launched another drone attack on the ports of Izmail and Reni, affecting warehouses and grain storage facilities.

The EU grain market showed a decline in prices for most grains amid pressure from high competition (players noted a huge volume of Russian wheat offered at more competitive prices) and generally favorable weather conditions for the development of crops and field work in the main producing countries.
